Classes and machinery
LMGT3
The WEC's GT class since 2024: GT3 machinery with endurance-specific tweaks and Pro-Am crews.
LMGT3 is the World Endurance Championship's GT category, introduced in 2024 to replace the GTE classes. The cars are the same GT3 machinery that races in series worldwide, with endurance-specific additions such as bigger fuel capacity options and driver-change equipment, and the crews are Pro-Am by regulation: graded amateur drivers share the car with professionals.
The switch to GT3 cut costs and opened the grid to the huge existing customer-racing market, which is why the class filled immediately with manufacturers that had no GTE programme.
