LMDh

The cost-capped Hypercar platform: spec chassis from one of four suppliers, spec hybrid, manufacturer engine and styling.

LMDh is the second Hypercar platform, built around a spec backbone: the manufacturer picks a chassis from one of four licensed constructors (Oreca, Dallara, Ligier or Multimatic), integrates a standard rear-axle hybrid system, and adds its own engine and brand styling. Porsche's 963, BMW's M Hybrid V8 and Cadillac's V-Series.R all follow this recipe.

The platform's real significance is that it is shared with IMSA's GTP class in North America, so one car can race at both Le Mans and Daytona. That convergence is what brought a wave of manufacturers back to endurance racing's top level in the 2020s.
