Which car has won the most WEC races?

The Toyota GR010 Hybrid has the most WEC overall wins, 24; the GR010 total includes its 2026 TR010 Hybrid update. The Toyota TS050 Hybrid won 19 races and the Porsche 919 Hybrid 16. Counting class wins, the Oreca 07 Gibson has the most, 44.

The overall winners

The archive holds 107 WEC races, from 2012 to the 2026 Barcelona round, and 15 different car models have won at least one of them outright. Model names follow the timing sheets, so a car that raced under several names is grouped with its main name where WEC Engine knows they are the same programme.

The GR010 Hybrid has won 24 races since 2021, 4 of them in 2026 as the TR010 Hybrid. The TS050 Hybrid won 19 from 2016 to 2020, the last years of the LMP1-Hybrid rules. The 919 Hybrid won 16 from 2014 to 2017. A 919 also won the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans, a race the archive does not yet hold, so the 919's real total is one higher than the archive shows.

The Audi R18 e-tron quattro won 13 races from 2012 to 2015. Audi's R18 family won more under other names in the timing sheets: 3 as plain R18 (the 2012 Sebring opener and two races in 2016) and 1 as the R18 Ultra in 2012.

The Hypercar era

The Ferrari 499P has 8 wins. The factory Ferrari AF Corse team has taken 6 Hypercar wins and the customer AF Corse No. 83 car 2, including the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans. Up to the 2026 Fuji round, its latest win was the 2026 Circuit of the Americas round.

The Porsche 963 has 4 wins, all in 2024 and 2025 up to the 2026 Fuji round: three for Porsche Penske Motorsport and one for Hertz Team JOTA. The BMW M Hybrid V8 has 2, both in 2026 at Spa and São Paulo up to the Fuji round. Alpine's A480 won 2 races in 2022 and its A424 has 1, and the Cadillac V-Series.R has 1.

Earlier Toyota and privateer winners

Toyota's earlier LMP1 cars add ten more wins. The TS030 Hybrid won 5 races in 2012 and 2013, and the TS040 Hybrid 5 in 2014, the year Toyota took both world titles. In all, Toyota's prototypes have won 53 WEC races.

The Rebellion R13, run by the privateer Rebellion Racing team, won 3 races: Silverstone in 2018, Shanghai in 2019 and the Circuit of the Americas in 2020. All three came in the last two LMP1 seasons, when Toyota was the only works team left in the class.

Class winners: the Oreca 07 and the GT cars

Counting class wins, the Oreca 07 Gibson has 44, all in LMP2. Of the 47 LMP2 races from its 2017 debut up to the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans, the only three it did not win went to the Alpine A470, and every LMP2 win from the 2019-20 season onward went to the Oreca. Since 2024 LMP2 has raced in the WEC only at Le Mans.

Among GT cars, model names are split across several spellings in the timing sheets, so totals should be read with care. The Aston Martin Vantage V8 has 31 GTE class wins from 2012 to 2016, the Porsche 911 RSR 22 under its main entry name between 2013 and 2020, and Ferrari's F458 Italia 22 from 2012 to 2016.

Why does every LMP2 team race an Oreca 07?

Four constructors are licensed to build LMP2 cars: Oreca, Ligier, Dallara and Multimatic. In practice the grid chose one. The Oreca 07 proved faster and easier to run than its rivals when the ruleset launched in 2017, customer demand snowballed, and the other chassis disappeared from the WEC within five seasons. Since 2022, every LMP2 entry in the championship has been an Oreca 07 with the spec Gibson V8 behind the cockpit.
