Class number colours
Each class carries its own number-panel colour so the classes can be told apart at speed.
Every WEC class carries a distinctive number-panel colour on its cars: in the current championship, Hypercar runs red panels and LMGT3 orange, with LMP2's blue appearing where the class races at Le Mans. The colour, more than the bodywork, is how you identify a car's class at 300 km/h.
The convention is old and practical, shared in spirit with other endurance series, and it pairs with the leader lights to make the running order readable. Broadcast graphics, marshals and drivers' mirrors all lean on it.
