Timing, scoring and tech
Sector times
The lap split into timed sections, the basic tool for locating where pace lives.
Circuits divide the lap into timed sectors, usually three, and every car's lap is recorded as its sector splits. Sectors localise performance: a car strong in a circuit's high-speed sector but weak in the twisty one is telling you its aero and mechanical trade-offs out loud.
Two derived numbers matter. The theoretical best lap stacks a car's best individual sectors into a lap it never quite drove, and the gap between theoretical and actual best measures execution. Our session pages carry full sector data, which is also what powers sim-racing comparisons against the real field.
