The FIA WEC runs prototypes and GT cars on the same grid. Each class has its own regulations, balance-of-performance, and championship.
Classes
Le Mans Prototype 2
Customer prototype class. Single chassis (Oreca 07) and engine (Gibson V8) keep the racing tight and team-craft-driven.
Hypercar (LMH/LMDh)
The premier WEC class since 2021. Factory-built hybrid prototypes (LMH and LMDh) — Toyota GR010, Ferrari 499P, Porsche 963, Cadillac V-Series.R, BMW M Hybrid V8 and others.
LMGT3
Production-based GT class introduced 2024, replacing LMGTE. GT3-spec road-car derivatives — Aston Martin, Corvette, Ferrari, Ford, Porsche, BMW, Lexus, McLaren and Lamborghini.
GTE Am
Bronze-line GT class 2012-2023.
GTE Pro
Pro-rated GT class 2012-2023, succeeded by LMGT3 (2024+).
Le Mans Prototype 1
The premier prototype class 2012-2020, succeeded by Hypercar. The hybrid era featured Audi R18 e-tron quattro, Porsche 919 Hybrid and Toyota TS050.
Le Mans Prototype 1 Hybrid
Hybrid LMP1 sub-classification (2012-2020). Audi, Porsche, Toyota.
LMP2 Pro-Am subclass
LMP2 line-up requirement variant — at least one Bronze or Silver-rated driver per car.
